Mr. Eko Setiawan Sidik, the Mining Technical Head of PT. BKM, spoke to the media in Mandiodo, Molawe District, North Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province on Thursday (13/7/2023). He mentioned that the symbolic tree planting event in the former Pit of PT. Bumi Konawe Minerina would be gradually followed by the planting of a specific number of trees to cover an area of 1 hectare.
“After this, we will continue planting trees, and the plan is to plant around four hundred trees on approximately one hectare of land,” he said during the briefing.
He emphasized that their commitment to environmental preservation goes beyond seeking profit, and that safeguarding the surrounding natural environment is of utmost importance.
“In the future, the company operating in the mining sector is scheduled to conduct annual tree planting as a routine activity in the final reclamation area,” he added.
In addition to the tree planting initiative, PT. Bumi Konawe Minerina also organized environmental and workplace safety campaigns, which were participated in by all company employees, lasting for one month in July 2023.
